For almost ten years, Whisky Live has been providing Australia with the chance to taste the best the whisky industry has to offer. Whisky Live has grown with their community and shared both international and Australian drams with pride!
It’s always exciting to see new faces. If you’re joining Whisky Live for the first time in 2019 here is the rundown on what to expect.
A Red-Carpet Entrance…
Whisky Live Australia’s bag of essentials is precisely that. And every ticket holder will receive one as they enter the venue. Inside you will find a Tasting Guide to all spirits open for tasting and your very own professional whisky glass. Yours to keep.
Seeing just how many stands and whiskies are available can be overwhelming. There is a lot to choose from, and as much as we would all love the iron liver to sample everything, such an ask is not possible. To make the most of your time at the event, and keep things memorable, pay close attention to your Tasting Guide. This booklet holds tasting notes showing body & smoke spectrums for each dram. Take a little time to plan out your session and you’ll experience a night that is tailored for you. The guide is sent one week prior by email too, so you can plan before you arrive.
Hot Tip: Peated whiskies with heavy and smokey flavours are best followed by food to cleanse the palate before tasting non-peated whiskies again.
The Whisky Journey
The layout of each show has been put together with the journey of whisky in mind. Each stand tells a story and considers the progression of flavours throughout its collections. Presenters are overflowing with whisky wisdom, so go ahead and ask your spirits related questions. These events are as much about tastings as they are about learning.
Need to level up on your whisky tasting skills? The masterclasses on offer are hosted by experts who live and breathe the art of whisky. Join a class when announced during your session!
Want to experience an extra special dram? The Rare & Old bar is filled with bottles you’ll only ever experience at the event. Each dram is available in 15mL half-nips at reasonable prices. Keep your eyes open for limited edition and out of production whiskies as well as vintage rums. If you know someone who would love to try an exclusive dark spirit you can pre-purchase gift cards here.
The Sherry on Top
Recently, Whisky Live has provided attendees with an insight into what else the spirits industry has to offer. Beyond whisky and vintage rum, you will find select fine spirits that deliver quality, innovation and a story. It’s the perfect excuse to bring your rum, vodka or gin drinking friend with you!
Lastly, remember to soak up the atmosphere. Enjoy the food that has been curated with whisky in mind. Stock up on the bottles you love most from the event store. Talk to a stranger about their favourite drink – you might find a new friend and a new favourite dram in one go.
Let us know in the comments if we’ll see you at Whisky Live in 2019. Till then, cheers!
